  6. This program is a mathematical equation editor. Like a word
  7. processor that lets you write text, MathScript is used to write
  8. mathematical formulas.
  9. It offers you a variety of mathematical and physical symbols and lots
  10. of objects like fractions, roots, brackets and matrices to compose
  11. formulas, which can then be imported into word processors or DTP
  12. applications to produce scientific documents.

  14. Here is an overview of the features of MathScript:

  16. * WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get)
  17.   While you edit your formula it is displayed in its final look.
  18.   Editing is done like a word processor, use the keyboard to enter
  19.   characters, move the cursor with the cursor keys or the mouse, mark
  20.   blocks by dragging the mouse...
  21.  
  22. * MUI
  23.   Uses MUI 3.x for its nice font-sensitive resizeable and customizable
  24.   GUI.
  25.  
  26. * Symbols, Objects
  27.   Extensive amount of symbols and objects, accessable with the
  28.   keyboard and/or popup menus
  29.  
  30. * PostScript Fonts
  31.   Uses industry-standard scalable PostScript Type1 or Type3 fonts. You
  32.   can choose different fonts for the following types of characters:
  33.   variable, function, text, greek, symbol, number and 2 special
  34.   purpose fonts.

  36. * AutoFormat
  37.   MathScript automatically formats your input, i.e. it uses the
  38.   appropriate font for each character.
  39.   So called "styles" affect the way this is being done. The following
  40.   styles exist:
  41.   Math, Variable, Function, Greek, Text, Extra1, Extra2.

  43. * Function Recognition
  44.   MathScript "knows" the most common function names (like sin) and is
  45.   able to automatically apply the function font to it
  46.  
  47. * Export
  48.   Save formulas as EPS (PostScript), IFF, TIFF or LaTeX files

  50. * Import
  51.   Files produced by the export function can be loaded back again
  52.  
  53. * ARexx
  54.   It has an ARexx port with lots of commands
  55.  
  56. * Clipboard
  57.   Support the system clipboard for cut, copy and paste operations
  58.  
  59. * Function Keys
  60.   ARexx scripts can be assigned to function keys

  63.   It offers extensive online help in four different ways:
  64.   - Menu Help:   AmigaGuide help for menu items
  65.   - Gadget Help: AmigaGuide help for gadgets
  66.   - Bubble Help: Help bubbles for gadgets
  67.   - Quick Help:  Status bar help for gadgets and popup menu items
